BJP Alleges Voter List Manipulation in Diamond Harbour, Seeks EC Intervention
Suvendu Adhikari.

On Friday, opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari said that BDOs and SDOs, along with district judges, had purposefully omitted the names of a number of BJP employees from the voter list, mostly in the Diamond Harbour seat of Abhishek Banerjee.

Adhikari claimed: "There are several BDOs and SDOs who removed names of BJP workers from the voter list on verbal instruction of district magistrates." Adhikari made this allegation after meeting with chief election officer Aariz Aftab and seven people whose names were missing from the voter list. The most of these occurrences took place at Diamond Harbour.

The Election Commission released the final voter list for this year on January 22. The final list is usually released on January 5 of each year, but the poll panel said that this year the deadline was moved to January 22 in order to allow for more adjustments.

Adhikari said that several errors, including omitted names and erroneous entries made by online voters, persisted in the final voter list even after the election panel corrected the dates. Adhikari was accompanied by party leaders Jagannath Chattopadhyay and Sisir Bajoria.

Adhikari said, "A large number of BJP office bearers have been excluded from the Falta legislative constituency area." "We have requested the chief election officer to take cognisance of these irregularities and organise a hearing on a single day."

Speaker Biman Banerjee called an all-party meeting and a business advisory meeting in the Assembly before to the state budget session, which Adhikari had previously missed. Adhikari said, "We boycotted it in protest." Since 1964, it has been customary for the opposition to select someone to serve as the head of the Public Accounts Committee. This administration unfairly selected Mukul Roy and Krishna Kalyani despite our having six names."

After winning on BJP tickets, Roy and Kalyani moved to Trinamul. They continue to be BJP MLAs in theory.

Banerjee said at the all-party meeting that the budget session will take place from February 5 to February 10 and that the budget would be posted on February 8.
