BJP Contemplates Skipping All-Party Meeting Amidst West Bengal Day Discussions

Trinamul's Action Is Worrying, BJP Likely to Skip All-Party Meeting on West Bengal Day

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is allegedly planning to skip the all-party discussion on the planned West Bengal Day on August 29 at Nabanna Sabhaghar, which was called by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

According to BJP sources, several politicians, including Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari, were leaning towards not attending the meeting because they believed it would be a more appropriate course of action. However, a final decision had not yet been made in response to the invitation sent to all parties.

According to a BJP source, "the majority of MLAs and other leaders feel that it would not be appropriate to attend the all-party meeting with Trinamul at Nabanna after the violence in the panchayat elections."

According to those close to Adhikari, the opposition leader felt that voting would send the wrong message to people who had been affected by the governing party's coercive methods during the panchayat elections. The source underlined that it could be unsettling for BJP members to see pictures of their leaders standing next to Trinamul politicians at Nabanna Sabhaghar if their relatives lost their lives or suffered serious injuries in the violence that the governing party orchestrated.

Another source said that the state BJP president will finally determine the party's position while a final decision is still pending.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPM, and other opposition parties have not yet declared their participation.

"We haven't gotten any letters," Let's wait till we get the letter before making a decision, said Sujan Chakraborty of the CPM.

According to sources, the CPM and Congress may find it difficult to skip the conference given their prior participation in such all-party events.

Even though these parties could be present, uncertainty surrounds Trinamul's motivations. According to rumors, the party may have chosen a date for Paschim Banga Divas (West Bengal Day) in advance, maybe on Poila Boisakh (Bengali New Year), and asked for approval during the all-party gathering.

The Trinamul and the state administration have reportedly agreed to hold Paschim Banga Divas on Poila Boisakh (the Bengali New Year). They want the all-party conference to examine this. If it occurs, we can fight it. A CPM leader said, "We would be pleased if a serious discussion is undertaken to set a date.
