BJP Suffers Double Blow as Senior Leaders Defect to INDIA Party in Eastern India

Two senior BJP leaders, Ajay Nishad, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Muzaffarpur (Bihar), and Girinath Singh, a former minister and four-time MLA from Ranka (Jharkhand), left the party to join the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), dealing the party a double blow today in eastern India.

After joining the Congress, Ajay is anticipated to run for Muzaffarpur in the Lok Sabha elections on the party's ticket.

In the presence of Jagadanand Singh, the RJD's president for Bihar, Singh joined the party in Patna. He had earlier served as the leader of the Jharkhand party unit and referred to his decision as a "ghar wapsi" (return to home). He might run as an RJD candidate for the Chatra Lok Sabha constituency in Jharkhand.

Ajay, a Muzaffarpur MP thrice, was denied a ticket this time by the BJP. For around thirty years, he and his family have controlled the constituency's politics. From 1996 until 2009, his father Jai Narayan Prasad Nishad held four Lok Sabha seats.

The MP from Muzaffarpur had already declared on his X account that he was quitting the saffron party, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's family as "Modi ka parivaar."
