BSF detains a Bangladeshi and seven Indians at the international border in north Bengal

On Saturday, the Border Security Force (BSF) detained a Bangladeshi and seven Indians at the international border in north Bengal.

They've all been turned over to the police.

The BSF's 91st battalion, stationed at the Elendry border outpost in the South Dinajpur district, reportedly captured Imran Haque, Mujahar Ali, and Shankar Roy from Chakrashail hamlet on Saturday around 7:30 p.m., according to sources.

The BSF said that the three people were riding a motorbike suspiciously. They were all from the South Dinajpur area.

The outpost is around one kilometer distant from Chakrashail.

From the bike, 193 bottles of cough syrup were confiscated by the BSF. The three intended to sneak the goods into Bangladesh, according to the BSF.

Around 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, Sujit Chandra Das, a resident of Bangladesh's Chittagong area, was apprehended by the BSF's sixth battalion stationed at the Arjun border outpost in Cooch Behar. He and another individual were riding a bike with suspicious movements.

The Indian motorcyclist made his way out of the situation. He and two of his colleagues were apprehended by the BSF after they initiated a search. Their district is Jalpaiguri.

The three had come to pick up Das, who had crossed the border into India in search of work. They intended to give him over to another tout who would assist Das in obtaining employment.

Using his e-rickshaw, the 61st battalion of the BSF, stationed at the Bhimpur border outpost in the Raiganj sector, apprehended 26-year-old Tapas Pal, a teenager from South Dinajpur, and confiscated fifty bottles of cough syrup. He was then turned over to the police in Hili.

Between November 14 and 19, the BSF carried out anti-smuggling operations in several parts of north Bengal, seizing cough syrup and animals.
