On Saturday night, the BSF opened fire on a man they believed to be a livestock smuggler from Bangladesh near the international border.

After locating the corpse, police are attempting to identify the guy who passed away.

According to BSF sources, a gang was attempting to cross the border into Bangladesh by smuggling livestock into the Bhabanipur region of Jajoil panchayat, which is under the control of the Habibpur police station in Malda district.

The 159th battalion BSF troops requested that the smugglers cease their activities. The BSF officers were then ambushed by the smugglers using sharp weapons, forcing the force to fire a few rounds in self-defense. A corpse was discovered close to the border, while other traffickers fled, according to a source.

The BSF did not release an official statement on the event until Sunday evening, but according to reports, the alleged smuggler lived in the Bangladeshi district of Chapai-Nawabganj, namely in the Gomastapur police station area.

Winter had arrived, according to BSF sources, and smugglers were operating in the border region.

They attempt to sneak livestock and other illegal goods into Bangladesh by taking advantage of the fog cover. A source said, "Our forces are ready to thwart any such attacks.

Arrest due to an attempt for theft

In relation to an alleged Saturday burglary attempt at an ATM in the Malda neighborhood, a young person has been taken into custody.

According to sources, a written complaint submitted by a private corporation that runs ATMs led to the arrest of Rifaz Ahmed, who lived in Nayagram, close to Kaliachak.
