Chief of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige states that Robert Downey Jr. will not be playing superhero Iron Man again after his tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is over.

The last time Downey Jr. portrayed the superhero in "The Avengers: Endgame" was in 2019. Since then, rumors have circulated among fans regarding Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, joining the MCU again.

"We're going to preserve that moment and never revisit it. Feige stated to Vanity Fair in the Downey Jr. profile, "We all worked incredibly hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.

Along with his brother Anthony Russo, director Joe Russo of "The Avengers: Infinity War" and "The Avengers: Endgame" said the team has also emotionally moved past Downey Jr.'s exit from the franchise.

"On the final day of filming, we had already bid each other heartfelt goodbyes. Everyone had emotionally moved on. Joe remarked, "We assured him that this would be the last time we ever forced him to do it.

According to Anthony, the Hollywood star found it "difficult" to deliver his final words as the superhero.

When he eventually returned, we were filming on the same stage where he had given his Tony Stark audition. Anthony stated that Tony Stark's final line was recorded just a few hundred feet from his first audition, which secured him the part.
