Deadpool and Wolverine Unite in Marvel Cinematic Universe: First Trailer Revealed
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in the trailer.

In the first teaser for Deadpool and Wolverine, released by Marvel Entertainment on Monday, Ryan Reynolds's Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, makes his entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and vows to alter it forever.

The two-minute, twenty-five-second teaser, which debuted during the 2024 Super Bowl on Sunday, opens with Matthew Macfadyen's TVA bureaucrat barging into Deadpool's birthday celebration and escorting him to the Time Variance Authority (as seen in Loki) headquarters, where they oversee the universe.

After learning that the Marvel superhero team needs his assistance, Deadpool delivers a string of R-rated jokes mixed with dark humor. During a scene, Deadpool calls himself "Marvel Jesus," a "messiah" who will permanently alter the MCU's cosmos.

Matthew Macfadyen, star of Pride and Prejudice, is TVA bureaucrat Paradox, who gives Deadpool an introduction to the Marvel superhero universe. "This is your opportunity to be a hero among heroes," he says to Deadpool, who is staring at the screen showcasing famous scenes from the MCU with amazement.

The teaser teases Hugh Jackman's character Wolverine, who passed away in the 2017 X-Men film Logan. But his appearance in the movie is not seen in the trailer. He appears to us just twice, once as a shadow and once from behind.

In the first Deadpool movie, which came out in 2016, Wade was seeking retribution against Ajax, the man who, after putting him through an experimental cancer treatment, transformed him into a mutant. In the 2018 film Deadpool, the antihero musters a group of mutants to prevent a time-traveling mercenary from murdering a young mutant, even if doing so resulted in catastrophic deformity.

Deadpool & Wolverine, which is helmed by Shawn Levy, will open in theaters everywhere on July 26.
