Ashley Park, the actress from Emily in Paris, announced on Friday that she is recuperating from a "critical septic shock" that contaminated her organs and sent her to the hospital in December when she was on holiday in the Maldives.

The only word that comes to me as I sit here thinking back on and healing from the first few weeks of 2024 is thankful. While I was on vacation in December and early January, I had tonsillitis that turned into a serious case of septic shock that impacted many organs and caused infection. Despite what we were first informed, I am thankful that my health has improved," Ashley said on Instagram, accompanied with images of herself resting in a hospital bed.

The Mean Girls actress thanked Paul Forman, her spouse, for always being there for her. "While we were alone on the other side of the world, far from those we know, you calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans, tests, and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion." Paul, I adore you. Ashley said, "More than I can ever express."

The actress continued by expressing her gratitude to the medical professionals and intensive care unit nurses "who had worked tirelessly" as well as the Joali Being beach resort personnel in the Maldives for their prompt response and continued help in providing language translations.

Ashley expressed her gratitude to her own "team of heroes at home" for their genuine efforts in handling her insurance, keeping in constant communication with Paul, her parents, and the physicians.

"Thanks for reading this," the actress said, reassuring her followers that she is definitely "on the other side of the worst" despite her initial concerns. I apologize for being so distant from many people and from my life lately. I cherish each and every one of you. I'm getting better, and I swear I'll be OK.

Lily Collins, who costarred with Ashley in Emily in Paris, also responded to her post, saying, "It's hard not to weep when I look at them. I will always be glad that you are on the other side of this, sister, and that @peforman has been there for me at every turn. I love you. I am very excited to give you both hugs.

Along with Lily, other celebrities who responded to Ashley's message with love and prayers included Selena Gomez, Paris Hilton, and Glen Powell.

Ashley played Kimber in the third season of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building and Naomi in the dark comedy Beef on Netflix. She also starred with Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu in Adele Lim's directorial debut, Joy Ride.
