In the late hours of Sunday, the Special Task Force and Raghunathganj police uncovered a suspected racket, leading to the arrest of four people, including three women from the Northeast, in Omarpur in the Murshidabad district with 1.3 kg of heroin.

Among those detained are Md. Meftahul Islam, 42, a Murshidabad native; Nempi Ngailut, 41; Marlyn Kholneilhing, 37; and Ngahneikim Haokip, 42, all of Manipur.

The 1.3 kg of heroin is worth more than Rs 1.5 crore.

Authorities have learned of a connection between drug cartels in Bengal and the Northeast after the arrest of three women from the Northeast in a heroin case.

"Narcotics trade between Murshidabad and the Northeast states has been on the rise lately," an STF source stated. We concentrated on NH12's neighboring areas in Omarpur. We are searching for additional suspects.

The Behrampore district court placed the four people who had been arrested under police custody for ten days.
