There has been no progress in the latest round of military negotiations between China and India.

According to sources in the security establishment, the Chinese army has reinforced its stance and is still resisting Delhi's call for withdrawal from places of transgression in the Depsang Plains and Demchok along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.

Presstime was informed by a security official affiliated with the Union home ministry that "there was no forward movement during the fresh round of talks as the Chinese army refused to budge from disengaging from the Depsang Plains and Demchok, which are strategically crucial for India."

The 21st round of corps commander-level meetings between India and China took place on February 19 at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting site, according to a statement released by India's foreign ministry on Wednesday.

Since the first round of discussions on June 6, 2020, the two forces had held over 270 hours of talks.

In order to restore peace and tranquility to the border regions between China and India, the talks built on the previous rounds and aimed for total disengagement in the remaining areas along the Line of Actual Conflict (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The foreign affairs ministry released a statement saying that "the two sides shared their perspectives on this in the talks held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere."

"The parties have decided to stay in touch going forward via the appropriate military and diplomatic channels. Additionally, they pledged to keep things calm and peaceful in the border regions in the meantime.
