India Faces Pitch Uncertainty in New York T20 World Cup Opener

When Team India plays in the T20 World Cup in New York, there will be no shortage of support. Will their goals and strategies be supported by the circumstances, and more especially by the pitch? Prior to their opening match of the competition on Wednesday against Ireland, that is India's main concern.

When the Indians warmed up against Bangladesh last Saturday, they got a preview of the field at Nassau County International Stadium. At times, the ball hardly touched the bat due to the uneven, spongy bounce of the surface.

Even though they only managed to defend 77 runs on Monday, Sri Lanka was still able to put South Africa on the ropes. In order to reach those runs, the Proteas lost four wickets in more over 16 overs.

Of course, India has a considerably more formidable batting lineup that is richer in terms of technique, strokeplay, and general ability than Sri Lanka, who have been having difficulty on the international scene for the previous seven years or so.

That being said, it will be equally crucial to see how they adapt and how quickly they accept this New York message.

During his last job as the head coach of India, Rahul Dravid probably told the players not to think about the IPL at all.

especially the part about those pitches that could even get totals close to 300. This ICC event won't operate in that manner. Returning to the New York track, the Indian bowlers discovered during their warm-up game that it offers a good deal to bowlers who bowl the correct distances.

India doesn't appear to be worrying too much about bowling because their attack, whatever it is, has the capability to cause Ireland, who aren't considered one of the better sides, difficulties. However, India must exercise caution when it comes to their batting order. The challenge might be more difficult on that wicket if they bat first.

Tuesday's practice took place at Cantiague Park, a training facility five miles from the main stadium. Yashasvi Jaiswal, like the other players, got his time out at bat at the nets. It's difficult to predict, though, if he will start with captain Rohit and Virat Kohli in the XI.

Who enters at nos. 3 and 4 then? India's options are keeper-batter Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav.

The remaining spots in the XI are anticipated to be filled by all-rounders Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel; the specialist bowlers are probably going to be left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav and quicks Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh.
