Actor Janhvi Kapoor revealed on Thursday that she had asked her mother, the legendary Sridevi, to skip her visit on the "Dhadak" film set. Janhvi Kapoor called this decision "one of the biggest regrets" of her life.

Janhvi, the actress and producer Boney Kapoor's daughter, debuted in the film "Dhadak" in 2018. A few months after Sridevi's 54-year-old death in Dubai, the movie was released.

Praised as one of the pioneering female superstars in the Indian film industry, Sridevi appeared in films in a variety of languages, including "English Vinglish," "Moondru Mudichu," "Pokkiri Raja," "Sadma," "Chaalbaaz," "Lamhe," and "Chandni."

Janhvi claimed that her mother had "an unfair advantage" and that she purposefully wanted to be apart from her.

'You got your first film because you are Sridevi's daughter,' people were already saying. I made the decision to refuse her assistance. I believed I was unfairly in the lead. If I follow her advice, it will be even more unfair. 'Please don't come on set, I have to work on my own,' I told her.

Sometimes I think I made a foolish decision. I was a little too serious about all that nonsense. I feel bad about it. She was eager to assist me as a mother on set, I know that. I simply refused to let her. Among the greatest regrets... I wish I had just said, "Mum, come on over, I have something to shoot." During a session on the second day of Agenda AajTak 2023 here, the 26-year-old said, "I need you."

Janhvi, who has acted in a variety of movies, including "Good Luck Jerry," "Mili," and "Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl," said that at first she felt under pressure to not be compared to her mother.

I would become anxious and stressed out due to all of this stuff. However, I soon realized that was the benchmark because Mumma, Sridevi Kapoor, was being used to compare me to. It didn't really start inspiring me. Mumma even told me that her last film will be compared to my performance in my first. "'I don't wish this kind of pressure even on my enemy,'" she had declared.

The actor claimed that she was unaware of how burdensome legacy would be.

"A mother and her daughter cannot be compared to one another or be competitive in life. You and your mother don't compete. Any actor should not be compared to my mother. I now realized that my goal is to make her proud rather than to upstage her legacy. "Until the day I die, I will continue to strive towards carrying on her legacy," she stated.

Khushi Kapoor, her sister, received recognition from Janhvi for her first movie, "The Archies".

"Be ready, people are waiting to hate you," I warned her. However, remember yourself. She performed an amazing job. Her performance was warm and sincere." The actor claimed in the session that Sridevi disliked seeing her own movies. "She detested it once. Thus, I used to watch them covertly," she remarked.

Janhvi claimed that although she first saw her mother's more innocent movies, such as "Mr India," her fondest memory is of seeing "Sadma" with Sridevi.

"I recall getting really upset with her after we watched 'Sadma' together because, by the end of the movie, she doesn't recognize Kamal (Haasan) sir's character. "Mumma, how could you forget Kamal sir?" I questioned. I was silent about her for two days. I was really rattled," she remembered.

Now that Sridevi is slated to make her debut in south cinema with "Devara," starring Jr NTR, the actor claimed she has begun to "objectively study her work" by watching the actress's previous movies.

Janhvi further stated that "Devara" has brought her life full circle, recalling her time as Sridevi and the legendary Telugu actor NT Rama Rao, Jr.'s grandfather, who starred in a number of films including "Vetagaadu," "Satyam Shivam," and "Anuraga Devata."

According to the actor, "Devara" is her first glamorous role.

"I'm naturally good at dressing up, dancing, and using theatricality. I have made a conscious effort to avoid leading glamorous roles. 'Devara's' world is a very different one. Real but grand," she continued.

In addition, she is excited for the release of "Mr and Mrs Mahi," which stars Janhvi as a cricket player.

The actor claimed that during her cricket game for the film, which also stars Rajkummar Rao, she dislocated both of her arms.
