Jawan crosses Rs 600 crore mark, becomes first Bollywood film to do so

Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, became the first Bollywood film to gross more than Rs 600 crore in India, a feat previously only accomplished by blockbusters produced by film firms in the south.

The only Indian films that surpass the Rs 600-mark domestically before Jawan were Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 960 crore nett), Prabhas' Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 907 crore nett), and S.S. Rajamouli's RRR (Rs 782 crore nett).

The Atlee-directed actioner saw a rise in its earnings thanks to the prolonged weekend "Buy 1 Get 1" promotion, garnering an amazing Rs 8.80 crore net in India on its fourth Sunday. This has increased the movie's overall domestic box office receipts to an astounding Rs 606 crore nett.

With a staggering worldwide total of Rs 1,068.58 crore, Jawan has already outperformed Pathaan's lifetime earnings (Rs 1054 crore gross), becoming the highest-grossing Indian movie of the year.

Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Qureshi, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, and Mukesh Chhabra are among the ensemble cast in Jawan. In the action thriller, Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt make brief appearances.

In terms of box office take among the new Hindi releases of the week, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba's Fukrey 3 triumphed over Vivek Agnihotri's The Vaccine War and P. Vasu's Chandramukhi 2. The comedy-drama, starring Pankaj Tripathi and Varun Sharma, made Rs 43.55 crore nett during the course of its extended opening weekend in the domestic market.

starring Pallavi Joshi and Nana Patekar The Vaccine War received a pitiful Rs 5.70 crore nett over the course of four days, bombing at the box office. Chandramukhi 2, starring Kangana Ranaut, performed somewhat better, earning Rs 23.90 crore nett across all languages.

The success of Jawan is evidence of how Bollywood movies are becoming more and more well-liked both in India and abroad. The movie's star power, along with its excellent production qualities and action scenes, have helped it become a worldwide smash.

The popularity of Jawan is also evidence of the Indian cinema industry's rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie's box office success indicates that viewers are anxious to see big-budget blockbusters again in theaters.

The flops of Chandramukhi 2 and The Vaccine War serve as a reminder that not all movies are made equally. The discriminating public will only support films that are both entertaining and well-made.
