Jawan VFX Breakdown Reveals Shah Rukh Khan's Digitally-Generated Cigar in Atlee's Blockbuster

A VFX breakdown video released by production company Red Chillies Entertainment reveals that Shah Rukh Khan's cigar in the 2023 Atlee-helmed blockbuster Jawan was computer-generated, emphasizing that the actor wasn't smoking a real cigar during the fight sequences that had the crowd cheering and whistling.

On X (previously Twitter), Shah Rukh expressed his gratitude for the unwavering efforts of the Jawan VFX team and crew, writing, "A film becomes complete and beautiful by the work of people who never get to be seen on screen." Working nonstop, meeting deadlines, stumbling at the last minute, and yet producing this kind of work. Thank you, girls and guys.Without you, Jawan, I could never be "READY"... I love you all.

The production firm said in a post that the 58-year-old actor reshared how a combination of realism and digital augmentation had worked in concert to create a cinematic masterpiece in the Shah Rukh Khan film.

The three minutes and twenty-two-second video provides a detailed dissection of the massive amount of visual effects used in the Atlee film. Many of the film's noteworthy moments, such the metro train in the opening scene and the cigar that Shah Rukh's character Vikram Rathore is smoking in a particular frame, were produced totally digitally. The fast-paced action sequences cleverly combine computer-generated images with reality.

The truck-heist scenario had certain stunts that Shah Rukh, using a harness belt, physically executed; however, the bike sequence was computer-generated. In a similar vein, the jail, which serves as the main hub for a large portion of the action in the movie, was only partly built and enhanced using visual effects. Even the cottage where Deepika Padukone's character Vikram and his wife Aishwarya Rathore were living in was computer-generated."

In addition, Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, and Ridhi Dogra had significant parts in the vigilante action movie.

Jawan tells the tale of Azad, a female prisoner who serves as a mentor to a group of other female inmates as they carry out socially conscious robberies. The protagonist meets up with Shah Rukh's portrayal of his father throughout the voyage.

Jawan, which debuted in theaters on September 7 of last year and grossed over Rs 1,100 crore worldwide, is Shah Rukh's most successful film to date.
