In a new promotional video released by Netflix on Instagram on Friday, the ensemble of Laapataa Ladies, which includes Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Srivastav, Ravi Kishan, and Pratibha Ranta, discussed their ideas for a possible sequel to the rural comedy directed by Kiran Rao.

The performers in the video debate different concepts for the follow-up, in which Deepak (Sparsh) pursues higher education, Phool (Nitanshi) opens her own store, and Jaya (Pratibha) educates the people about organic farming after graduating from Dehradun.

Netflix captioned the film, which also stars Aamir Khan, "Manifesting a sequel to Deepak and Phool's story because we're already seated Watch Laapataa Ladies, streaming on Netflix."

When asked about the prospect of a sequel, Nitanshi responds, "We discussed a lot," near the beginning of the video. In his explanation of Deepak's narrative, Sparsh states that he wishes Deepak would forgo his family's watchman tradition and pursue further education. Nitanshi adds, "I hope Phool and Deepak study together," and Sparsh jokes, "Let's call it Laapataa Gentlemen," speculating about a potential sequel's title.

According to Nitanshi, Phool may open her own kalakand store in Surajmukhi village, with Sparsh helping her along the way. Manju Mai, played by Chhaya Kadam, is praised by Ravi Kishan as a strong lady, and Pratibha proposes that Jaya should either pursue her goal of promoting organic farming or turn into an entrepreneur.

After 14 years, Kiran Rao returned to directing with Laapataa Ladies, her follow-up to her 2010 debut feature film Dhobi Ghat. This comic drama, which is supported by Aamir Khan Productions, follows the misadventures of two brides (Jaya and Phool) who unintentionally end up apart from their husbands on a train.

Netflix is currently offering Laapataa Ladies for streaming, which was released in theaters on March 1.
