The popular franchises "Hera Pheri" and "Welcome" are two that actor Paresh Rawal is excited to be returning to. He will soon begin filming for the third installments of both film series.

Making a fresh character for a beloved franchise is a difficult undertaking, according to the 68-year-old, something Rajkumar Hirani excelled at with his "Munna Bhai" series.

"Welcome 3 will be released the following year; we will begin filming in December. There will also be a "Hera Pheri 3" soon. If the plot of a franchise movie is weak, it will get old fast. 'Hungama 2' was the occasion.

"Hungama was a good franchise, but the second installment wasn't very successful. You ought to try something new when you have a well-known character or movie. If you are creating a franchise, you ought to model it after the 'Munna Bhai' portfolio. Rawal told PTI, "It's a really well-made movie.

The first "Hera Pheri" film was directed by Priyadarshan and released in 2000. Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty were also in it. It centred on three characters: a struggling pauper named Shyam (Shetty), a crafty loafer named Raju (Kumar), and an eccentric and kindly garage owner named Baburao Ganpatrao Apte (Rawal). In 2006, Neeraj Vora's follow-up film "Phir Hera Pheri" marked the trio's comeback.

The "Welcome" movie series spawned two films: "Welcome Back" in 2015 and the first in 2007. Anees Bazmee was the director of both installments. Ahmed Khan will helm the third segment, "Welcome to the Jungle".

"Shastry Virudh Shastry," Rawal's most recent film, tells the tale of a seven-year-old boy who is divided between his parents and grandparents and is entangled in a web of emotions.

The seasoned moviegoer claimed to have found the film's narrative to be both innovative and relevant.

"As far as film subjects go, I've never heard of one like this. This custody dispute is peculiar. 'Will your love be decided by the judiciary?' was a notion I found appealing. That makes it a fascinating object to observe.

"The grandparents step in when a child's father is too busy earning money to spend time with them and teach them morals. In other words, he wants to make up for whatever time they lost out on his own son's youth," Rawal remarked.

Produced by Viacom18 Studios, the movie came out earlier this month. The film, which also stars Mimi Chakraborty, Amruta Subhash, Manoj Joshi, Neena Kulkarni, and Shiv Panditth, was directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprasad Mukherjee.
