On Friday, the first day of the test, at least two locations in the Malda district released the Bengali question paper for the Madhyamik exam.

In contrast to past years, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), which administers the test, was able to identify two test takers using the QR codes written on the questions and canceled their registrations as a result of the papers being leaked.

Two more people were detained when it was discovered that they were making chits and browsing through leaked exam papers on their phones close to the testing location.

Police sources indicated that the Bengali question paper from Raigram High School, which is located in the Amrity neighborhood of the Englishbazar block, leaked around 10.45 am, or about an hour after the test started. Examinees from the nearby Sovanagar High School and Nagharia High School took seats at the establishment.

Shortly after, the district's Kaliachak-III block's Bedrabad High School was implicated in a similar leak. This was where the Chamagram High School students were seated.

When district administration representatives learned of the question paper leak, a group headed by Malda's SDO (Sadar), Pankaj Tamang, made their way to Raigram High School. Two strangers who were busy making chits outside the school were apprehended by a police squad from the nearby Milky police outpost when they arrived at the scene. They were taken into custody thereafter.

According to a member of the WBBSE-constituted test conducting committee, one examinee from each of the two exam centers was eventually identified.

This year, every question paper featured a unique QR code, making it simpler to identify those who took pictures of the papers and shared them to others via cellphones. The committee member said, "They are unable to take the test this year since their registrations have been canceled.

Question paper leaks are a regular occurrence in Malda.

This is one of the explanations for the inclusion of the QR code in this year's exam questions. Even yet, some pupils seem to be desperate enough to use dishonest tactics in Madhyamik. This time, these examinees need to know that they are clearly identifiable, according to Malda district magistrate Nitin Singhania.
