In the state budget for 2024–2025, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday unveiled a financial support program that will provide qualifying women between the ages of 21 and 60 with a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500.

In his budget speech to the assembly, Finance Portfolio Holder Ravindra Pawar said that the "Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana" would go into effect in July, four months ahead of the October state elections.

The plan will receive an annual financial allocation of Rs 46,000 crore, he said.

The finance minister unveiled a new welfare program called the "Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana," which will provide three free cooking gas cylinders to a household of five if they qualify each year.
