Marvel's Madame Web Trailer Unveils Dakota Johnson as the Title Character

In the trailer for Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment's upcoming Spider-Man spin-off Madame Web, Dakota Johnson makes her MCU debut as clairvoyant paramedic Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan woman experimenting with her newfound powers and navigating through a string of life-threatening events involving a Spider-Man-like assassin.

The two-minute, 55-second video, which debuted on Wednesday, gives viewers a peek into Madame Web's backstory by illustrating how a near-fatal automobile accident gave an ordinary lady superpowers. Confused by her future visions and assaults by the assassin known as the "Spider-people hunter," Cassandra from Dakota joins forces with three other girls who are under similar danger.

The video opens with action-packed scene montages of Sydney Sweeney and Dakota facing off against the enigmatic assassin. It isn't until she is stabbed by the Spider-people hunter that Cassandra realizes for the first time that she can sense dangers in the future.

Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim), the antagonist of this Spider-Man spin-off, gets his abilities from an old Spider totem and is out to find everyone else with Spider-centric talents. He appears in a black outfit resembling the iconic Spider-Man.

Madame Web will include Isabela Merced as Anya Corazon and Celeste O'Connor as Mattie Franklin, two of Cassandra's Spider-woman trio, in addition to Dakota and Sweeney. Madame Web is a Spider-Man spin-off directed by S.J. Clarkson and written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. The film's release date has not yet been announced by the producers.
