With a glimpse into the evil that will consume Gotham City, Max's latest trailer for The Penguin series promises an engrossing journey into the underbelly of Matt Reeves' Batman epic.

"The next installment in Matt Reeves' epic story of @TheBatman." The one-minute, 26-second trailer for the next Max Original Series, which stars Academy Award nominee Colin Farrell as #ThePenguin, was released on Friday on X by the streaming platform's official account.

In this eerie trailer, Colin Farrell's Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, takes center stage. Farrell plays the infamous villain with a terrifying intensity, giving lines full of threat. As the teaser progresses, we see Cobb engrossed in discussion as he relates the myth of former Gotham criminal Rex Calabrese.

"Rex Calabrese was a big-time gangster in the old school, back when I was a child. He gave assistance to others. In the trailer, Cobb remembers, "He would call out to you when he saw you on the street."

Cobb goes on, but his praise takes a darker turn when he says, "When I was fourteen, he had a heart attack and passed away while still holding a cigar." There is a parade in my neighborhood in his honor. A damn parade. The gesture was what mattered, not how fancy it was. The demonstration of his love and meaning. Could you fathom having that kind of memory?

The Penguin, starring Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O'Connell, Clancy Brown, and Michael Zegen, is scheduled to premiere with eight episodes.

With a release later this year, The Penguin is expected to be a compelling addition to the Batman universe, executive produced by Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, Lauren LeFranc (who also acts as showrunner), Craig Zobel (director of the first three episodes), and Bill Carraro.
