Prime Video Unveils New Horror Series "The Village" Starring Arya
Director Milind Rau Creates a Visually Striking and Atmospheric World
Starring "Sarpatta Parambarai" actor Arya, the new horror series "The Village" was revealed by streaming site Prime Video on Thursday.
Milind Rau is the director of the program, which draws inspiration from the same-titled graphic horror book. Together with Deepthi Govindarajan and Deeraj Vaidy, he also contributes as a writer and co-creator.
According to a press release, "The Village" will launch in Tamil on the streaming service on November 24 with subtitles in English and dubbing in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
The protagonist of the horror series sets out on a terrifying rescue expedition to save his family. Aazhiya, Aadukalam Naren, George Mayan, PN Sunny, Muthukumar K, Kalairaani SS, John Kokken, Pooja, V Jayaprakash, Arjun Chidambaram, and Thalaivasal Vijay are among the other actors who appear in it.
The 2021 smash "Netrikann," starring Nayanthara, is Rau's most well-known film. He expressed his excitement at the show's Prime Video debut.
"A good horror series or film, in my opinion, should make you afraid to go outside alone at night, make you jump every time a twig snaps, and make the shadows appear to come alive all around you." And I want to expose fans of this genre to that type of viscerally frightening stuff.
"With 'The Village', I believe each one of us -- the cast and crew -- have managed to bring a show that will be enjoyed not only by horror genre fanatics but also everyone who appreciates a unique storyline and cinematic excellence that it offers," the director said.
Horror and suspense genres have drawn a lot of attention from both Indian and foreign viewers, according to Aparna Purohit, head of Originals, India & SEA, Prime Video.
"We have a special place in our repertoire for 'The Village.'" The series, which takes its cues from a graphic book, offers a fresh plot that hasn't been tackled in Indian horror media before. As seen by the cast's exceptional performances, Milind has executed his vision in the most exquisite manner.
