Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has announced on social media that Rajinikanth's next movie, Thalaivar 171, will get an official title on April 22. The announcement was made alongside a new character poster that features the superstar looking fashionable but tough.

The poster features Rajinikanth as a tough yet fashionable character, donning handcuffed golden wristwatches. The background that the Jailer actor is standing against has an industrial feel to it.

The film Thalaivar 171 is the first joint venture between Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Sun Pictures is financing the movie, which made a big announcement in the beginning of September 2023.

The final film that Rajinikanth appeared in was Lal Salaam, directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth and premiered in theaters in January. On the other hand, Lokesh Kanagaraj directed the Vijay-starring hit Leo in 2023.
