According to authorities, a school teacher was detained by police for reportedly recording ladies using the restroom at an industrial exhibition in Nagpur, Maharashtra, where they had traveled to take part in the event.

According to the authorities on Tuesday, the accused, Mangesh Vinayakrao Khapre (37), a resident of Kasarpura in Nagpur, had been covertly filming movies of ladies on his cellphone via the bathroom window.

The three-day 'Advantage Vidarbha' industrial exhibition took place on the Nagpur university campus in Ambazari and ended on Monday.

After a lady reported the incident to the organizers, the police launched an investigation that resulted in the accused's arrest.

According to police officers, Khapre was hired to design the festival entrance. Khapre teaches painting at a famous private school.

Inspector Vinayak Golhe of the Ambazari police station and his colleagues examined the property's CCTV video and focused in on the instructor.

According to the inquiry, he had been on campus for the previous several days getting ready for the event. Per the authorities, he was taken into custody right away and had his cell phone confiscated.

They said that on Tuesday, the accused appeared before a local judge, which granted him bail.

The authorities said that Khapre may be dealing with mental health concerns after looking through the phone and seeing that during the preceding three days, he had filmed films of about a dozen women and erased part of the footage.

He was the subject of a case filed under pertinent provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code.

Khapre was also found to have a history of filming women in public restrooms. The authorities said that around thirty of these recordings, which had been taken since 2022, had been discovered on his phone.
