Minister for Chattisgarh Guru Rudra Kumar was coming from a political campaign when unknown individuals hurled stones at his convoy in the Bemetara area, but he was unharmed, according to police on Thursday.

The incident, which happened late on Wednesday night, reportedly broke the window panes of the SUV carrying Rudra Kumar and another car in the convoy.

The police reported that the minister was unharmed and that several of his security staff had received first aid at a community health center for minor wounds.

Rudra Kumar, the Congress candidate from the Navagarh assembly seat, was returning from his election campaign when the event happened close to Jhal village, which is within the jurisdiction of the Navagarh police station, according to Bemetara Superintendent of Police Bhavna Gupta.

According to her, a written complaint has led to the registration of a case in this regard, and further investigation is now under progress.

When the event occurred, the minister's mother was also in the car with him.

This time, the Congress has put forward Rudra Kumar, the MLA from the Navagarh division and the Ahiwara seat. The party refused to provide its existing MLA in Navagarh, Gurudayal Singh Banjare, a ticket.
