Can overcoming gaps that looked insurmountable help us recover naturally and harden our resolve to live? The Swedish Netflix Original film Thank You, I'm Sorry, which stars Charlotta Bjorck and Sanna Sundqvist and was directed by Lisa Aschan, aims to provide an explanation via the story of two estranged sisters who reconnect after a long time apart.

After their parents' divorce, Sara (Sundqvist) and Linda (Bjorck), two sisters, grew apart; Linda chose to live with their father, while Sara continued to live with their mother. However, events years later, when they are both going through personal crises, pull them closer.

When her husband passes away suddenly, Sara, who is significantly pregnant, becomes even more vulnerable in an already troubled marriage. While tending to her first kid, she also struggles with her mother-in-law's expectations. Sara is compelled to urge her in-laws to leave as things with them become worse, realizing that she would have to deal with everything on her own.

At this pivotal moment, Sara discovers her older sister Linda, who is trapped in an abusive relationship and unable to escape it because of her propensity to put other people's needs before of her own. Given that the two sisters are suspicious of one another, the encounter wasn't pleasant. Although Linda was too preoccupied to care for Sara's needs at the time, Sara's younger self felt angry with Linda for leaving her.

Years after the breakup, when their lives converge, Sara and Linda gradually come to terms with coexisting, with Sara coming to a peaceful realization of her own shortcomings. When the younger sister develops cold feet and leaves the hospital before giving birth, Linda steps in as Sara's surrogate mother and comforts the younger one. The two sisters begin a new chapter in their lives when Sara's second kid is born, and they at last accept the concept of starting a family.

Thank You, I'm Sorry honors the subtleties of sisterhood with its genuine depiction of mortality, sorrow, and the resuscitation of human connections. The sisters' progress as a family, letting go of their childhood issues, is shown in the last scene with their father, who is mostly insane.
