Train Driver Averts Disaster in Murshidabad

Early on Monday morning, the train driver of the Radhikapur Express from Calcutta to North Bengal averted a terrible disaster when he saw a truck loaded with sand stuck on the rails close to Ballalpur station in Murshidabad.

The driver had to use emergency brakes to halt the rapidly moving train in order to prevent an instant collision with the truck, which resulted in the derailing of two compartments and the engine.

According to eyewitnesses, the engine's at least four wheels caught fire as well, frightening the passengers. However, the incident that happened on Monday at 1.45 am in the Eastern Railways Malda division between Dhulianganga and Ballalpur station did not result in any injuries to passengers.

Following the accident, key railway authorities, including Malda Bikash Chowdhury, the Divisional Railway Manager, hurried to the scene. After being saved, the people aboard the derailing train were sent to Farakka for medical evaluation.

A Railways Protect Force investigation on the incident has started. It was not possible to determine why the stalled truck had entered the railroad track right away.

The driver of the Radhikapur Express was aware and used the emergency stop just in time to prevent a serious collision. The DRM Malda said, "We have started an investigation to find out how the truck got onto the railroad rails.

The section of railroad tracks is next to NH12, which is now undergoing widening. According to witnesses from the area, there was a level crossing where the truck had previously joined the track.

Currently, the area serves as an unapproved parking area for trucks transporting building supplies. That Sunday night, the truck loaded with sand was parked there. However, it's unclear how it rolled onto the lines, according to a Malda railway officer.

Following initial inquiries, railroad representatives said that it was most likely the stationary car that moved onto the track since it was stopped on a loose-soil-filled hill.

"The precise cause has not yet been determined." An official said, "An investigation has started, and we are looking at every angle, including the potential for a conspiracy.

There were many hours of disruptions to train traffic on the route.
