Trinamul Delegation's Protest: Allegations of Bias and Conspiracy

Tuesday night, inside the Mandir Marg police station, a 10-member delegation from Trinamul concluded their protest with a blistering denunciation of the saffron rule. On Monday, Delhi police had pulled and arrested the group from outside Nirvachan Sadan.

Abhishek Banerjee, the MP for Trinamul, blasted the Election Commission for allegedly conspiring with the BJP to "murder democracy" in advance of the general election.

"It is quite disheartening," he said.

"They have even physically assaulted women in front of the Delhi headquarters of the Election Commission and placed them in police vans." The Dark Ages are hardly as barbarous as this. "This will go down as a Black Day," said the heir-apparent and nephew of Mamata Banerjee.

The delegation continued to demand that the EC immediately remove the heads of four major central agencies - the Income Tax (IT) department, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) - in order to reduce the likelihood of their "misuse" by the saffron regime during the general election. The delegation remained at the police station in protest even after being released by the administration on Monday night.

"We want the panel to choose new leaders to these institutions in an unbiased manner. Here, we were under a 24-hour dharna. Leading the group was Rajya Sabha member Dola Sen. "Women MPs were detained after sunset, we were never told what the charges were, and only after midnight they told us that we were free to leave," Sen claimed.

During their meeting with the delegation, Aam Aadmi Party leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj and Dilip Pandey showed support for one another.

Following his Monday night meeting with Bengal governor C.V. Ananda Bose to protest about the treatment of the delegation and request his involvement, Abhishek, the national general secretary of Trinamul, accused the EC of being responsible for the incident.

In a letter to Bose dated Tuesday, Trinamul claimed that the BJP and its leader, Jitendra Tewari, had met in secret on March 26 to provide NIA SP Dhan Ram Singh with a list of Trinamul employees that the agency could arrest in order to cause trouble for the party during the general election. It objected over the treatment of the party's Delhi delegation and accused the EC of being indifferent to Trinamul's issues.

In the letter, Trinamul also reminded Bose that the state government must get prompt approval from the EC in order to provide assistance and rehabilitation to thousands of people impacted by the mini-tornado that struck north Bengal on March 31.

Following a private organizational meeting at Singur with the party's Hooghly section, Abhishek said that they will shortly schedule another meeting with the EC.

"We will decide our next course of action if the poll panel still does not act on the alleged Singh-Tewari meeting," he said.

"The (poll) commission replaced the director general of Bengal twice in a span of 48 hours after the BJP leveled allegations against him. Why isn't the NIA director being replaced? He inquired. "The commission cannot avoid its obligations. We hope that the commission's partisanship is restrained.

After meeting with Bose once again, Abhishek said that the party will announce its political platform on the matter. He added that the struggle would go on till the EC reverses course.

"The BJP is terrified. The BJP is acting in this way because it fears the populace. He remarked, "They're doing all they can to prevent the public from exercising their rights during the elections.

Fair play is not what the BJP is about. He said, "They oppose the holding of democratic, fair, and peaceful elections.

On Tuesday, Trinamul leader Kunal Ghosh said that the NIA was now taking action on Trinamul's accusations.

"NIA Sources: Following @abhishekaitc's resolute stance against the BJP-NIA plot, the NIA has now immediately called SP DR Sing in Delhi. He is currently on board. Rakesh Roshan, an IPS officer from Patna, is being sent by the NIA to Kolkata to oversee the contested cases, he said on X.

"But we demand a thorough investigation and DR. Sing's punishment." Don't attempt to ignore the meeting's problem. The conspiracy against @AITCofficial is the most deadly one. Avoid attempting to protect this type of plot. He went on, "NIA has to issue a formal press announcement outlining the actions taken against Dr. Sing. "Moreover, since DG NIA is in charge of everything, including DR Sing's actions, we demand that he be replaced."

AAP assistance

Saurabh Bharadwaj, a minister for the AAP in Delhi, visited the Mandir Marg police station to extend his support to the Trinamul leaders. Later on, he informed reporters that he had been turned away from the police station. A sample code of conduct exists. The Election Commission should oversee the whole apparatus of governance. However, opposition parties are the target of searches by the NIA, CBI, and ED. The goal of the Center is to arrest anybody who speaks out and to quiet the opposition. This is utterly autocratic," Bharadwaj said.

He claimed, "The BJP organised a demonstration in Connaught Place (calling for the resignation of the Delhi AAP government)," alleging police prejudice. Who authorized them? They weren't taken into custody.

Sanjeev Jha and Dilip Pandey, AAP MLAs, also paid a visit to the police station.
