Twisters: Lee Isaac Chung's Epic Disaster Film Unleashes Nature's Fury

In the first teaser for Lee Isaac Chung's upcoming disaster epic Twisters, which Universal Pictures released during the Super Bowl Sunday night on February 12, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell's storm chasers attempt to predict and possibly tame tornadoes amid an unprecedented phenomenon of multiple storms converging over central Oklahoma.


In the first minute and fifty-nine seconds of the trailer, Jone's Kate Cooper flees with her pals from a vehicle as they attempt to escape a very strong tornado. After this terrible event in her undergraduate years, she decides to take a less demanding career in New York, where she can comfortably analyze storm patterns on screens in her four-wall office.


But according to the official summary on YouTube, "she is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (played by Anthony Ramos)". She encounters Powell's Tyler there, going by the name Tornado Wrangler. Tyler's lone catchphrase is "If you feel it, chase it," and the videos that follow show his wild group and storm-chasing exploits.

Tyler tells Kate, "You thought you could destroy a tornado," to which Kate responds, "We never had a chance." In an effort to give Kate a second chance, Tyler trains her to "ride" her anxieties as they follow a particularly strong storm that uproots electrical lines, flips cars, and topples buildings.

They come face to face with the full power of nature's wrath as two columns of whirling air pose a danger to human existence.

Twisters, a stand-alone follow-up to the 1996 catastrophe movie Twister, also stars Maura Tierney, Nik Dodani, Daryl McCormack, Brandon Perea, Sasha Lane, and Kiernan Shipka in significant parts.

Twisters, which is helmed by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, will open in theaters on July 19.
