With an incredible Rs 61 crore nett collection on its opening day on December 1, the Ranbir Kapoor film Animal emerged as the second-highest opening among Hindi films of 2023, surpassing Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur by a significant margin.
Amid the Animal storm at the box office, Meghna Gulzar's biopic of India's Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw opened with a pitiful Rs 5 crore, according to trade reports.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, which went on to become the Bollywood actor's biggest opening ever, marked a significant milestone in Ranbir's career as it currently ranks just behind Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan in terms of box office collection (75 crore).
Early estimates, as reported by Sacnilk, state that Animal has earned Rs 10 crore nett in Telugu and Rs 50.50 crore nett in Hindi. An additional Rs 50 lakh nett was contributed by the Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions.
Animal, which also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra, and Tripti Dimri, centers on Rannvijay Singh (Ranbir), who is prepared to do whatever it takes to keep his father safe.
