Bipasha Basu Embraces Post-Pregnancy Fitness Journey with Daughter Devi: Advocating Body Positivity

Actress Bipasha Basu reflected on her post-pregnancy fitness journey and difficulties to live up to the body image ideal imposed by society in an Instagram exercise video she uploaded with her daughter Devi.

"Since having my kid, my physique has altered, but am I still beautiful? Is it that being an actor makes me more in need of approval from others? Perhaps sometimes, at my most vulnerable periods," Bipasha said on Sunday accompanying the video.

In an all-black athleisure outfit, Bipasha can be seen exercising on a yoga mat with her one-year-old daughter Devi, who is copying her mother's movements.

In her article, Bipasha—who gave birth to Devi in November 2022—emphasized how special "every woman, every body type, every pregnancy, every journey" is, demonstrating how self-love extends beyond one's outward look.

The actress continued her speech by calling for a more accepting and body-positive society and raising concerns about why new moms are sometimes restricted to promoting baby items and aren't seen as role models for other companies. "I've been wondering for a while why I wasn't approached by businesses for endorsements when I was very slender and worked out for hours. How come a new mother can't serve as an inspiration for the same brands? Isn't that more realistic?" the woman wrote.

Bipasha continued by talking about the difficulties she had "bouncing back to her pre-baby appearance." "I want to go back to my first love, acting, as I do want to bounce back, however tough this interim period of struggle may be," she said in her article.

Dismissing the conventional norms around beauty and body image, Bipasha espoused the link between happiness, self-belief, and maintaining one's attractiveness. Do I feel lovely? Absolutely. Every day, when my spouse looks at me, I feel like the most beautiful lady in the world. "Wow, Mamma, my little daughter screams 'Mamma' loudly when she sees me and asks who the "shundori" is," the actress wrote.

"Here I am, making the decision to be happy every moment of my life...In the end, I am gorgeous, she concludes with a strong nod.

Bipasha recently appeared alongside her spouse Karan Singh Grover, whom she married in April 2016, in the murder thriller series Dangerous (2020) on MX Player.
