CPM Warns Against BJP's Communal Politics in Sandeshkhali, Urges Unity Against Trinamul Atrocities
CPM supporters attend the party rally at Sandeshkhali in North 24-Parganas on Monday.

Sandeshkhali residents were forewarned by the CPM on Monday against the sectarian politics of the BJP, which the party characterised as an attempt to undermine the people's democratic movement and prevent them from "spontaneously protesting against the atrocities" carried out by local Trinamul leaders in the volatile South 24-Parganas area.

Senior CPM leader Sujan Chakraborty stated, "Villagers, particularly women, were tortured by Trinamul goons and they finally got together to fight against it," during a public meeting in Sandeshkhali. The demonstrations have been a united people's mass movement revolt. The BJP, which was conspicuously absent from the protests, is currently attempting to sow discord among religions in order to forward its political agenda. Keep the people united; do not allow the BJP to do so.

In an attempt to win back the people's support in Sandeshkhali, the CPM has been mobilizing the community against the purported atrocities of arrested Trinamul leaders, including Sheikh Shahjahan, Shib Prasad Hazra, and Uttam Hazra, for the past month.

The CPM chose to conduct a rally in the region that has already provided the saffron camp with a great deal of support since BJP leaders, such as Suvendu Adhikari and Sukanta Majumdar, have been visiting Sandeshkhali on several occasions, according to a local Left leader.

"When we should be uniting the people, BJP leaders have been referencing the religious division in their speeches. There was no party banner used by the populace in their battle. CPM leader Nirapada Sardar, who served as Sandeshkhali's Assembly representative from 2011 to 2016, stated, "Our goal is to strengthen the unity of the people against the Trinamul's goons but the BJP is trying to weaken the uprising through its communal and divisive politics..."

In Sandeshkhali block-II, where there has been a rebellion since February 7 against alleged land grabs, physical abuse, and sexual assault by Trinamul leaders, including Shahjahan, Shib Prasad, and Uttam, the CPM became the first opposition party to stage a rally. The Sandeshkhali block-I was the venue of the BJP's rally today.

In his speech, the former CPM MLA claimed that since the Trinamul took office in 2011, a sizable portion of Left-leaning followers had been subjected to atrocities and the leaders of Bengal's ruling party stealing land.

The assault on our followers caused our party's local organization to deteriorate. Trinamul thugs seized the estates they had previously held under the Left Front government after seizing power. Saline water was channeled into the lands of several people, turning it into bheris, rendering their land unproductive. Now that the populace is uniting against the Trinamul goons, Mamata Banerjee and her party are terrified. The coordinated demonstration runs counter to the BJP's political philosophy. We implore the populace to oppose the BJP's polarizing policies," Sardar declared.

CPM MP Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya accused Mamata of ignoring the predicament of Sandeshkhali women while speaking at the protest. He claimed, "She tried to save the goons and did not hesitate to call the women outsiders."
