According to US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, the USA's decisive victory over Pakistan, a formidable team, in the ongoing T20 World Cup has established cricket as a stronghold in the nation. The co-hosts stunned the reigning champions Pakistan in a Group A league match of the ICC championship on June 6 in Dallas via Super Over.
As a result, the team led by Babar Azam withdrew from the competition without making it to the Super Eights.

Garcetti declared that he was now a cricket enthusiast. Everyone knows that I have developed an obsession with cricket. I adore playing cricket. I believe that an increasing number of Americans are discovering a love for a game that was played 150 years ago," he remarked.
Garcetti praised the USA's Super Eights entrance as a historic occasion.
It's unbelievable that we enraged Pakistan. Before the World Cup began, we defeated Bangladesh and almost defeated India. As the US ambassador to India, I say near because that's the ideal result.

Including cricket in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, according to Garcetti, is a significant milestone.
"I almost considered my contribution to India's inclusion in the 2028 Olympics as a gift to the cricket-loving nation as much as to the rest of the world."
