According to his older daughter Sanjina, "Dhoom" director Sanjay Gadhvi passed away on Sunday morning at his home in this area. 52 years old.

Gadhvi is best known for directing two huge successes in the "Dhoom" trilogy from Yash Raj Films: "Dhoom" (2004) and "Dhoom 2" (2006). He was three days away from turning 57.

Gadhvi's daughter said that her father was "perfectly healthy".

"He died away at his home this morning at 9:30 a.m. Although we are unsure of the cause, a heart attack is most likely the culprit. He was totally fine; he wasn't ill, Sanjina told PTI.

"Hum Tum" and "Fanaa" director Kunal Kohli was among the first movie stars to express sympathy on Gadhvi's passing on social media.

"This is quite startling. I never imagined that I would have to write your obituary, #SanjayGadhvi RIP. Years of sharing an office at YRF led to conversations over lunch and dubbas. I'll miss you, buddy. It's really difficult to accept this," Kohli said in an X post.

"Tere Liye" was Gadhvi's directorial debut in 2000. He then went on to make "Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai," his first film with Yash Raj Films, in 2002.

When he directed the chic action thriller "Dhoom" in the early 2000s, it became a sensation among Indian youth, marking the director's third major motion picture success.

The 2002 movie told the tale of a cat and mouse game between a group of motorcycle thieves headed by John Abraham's character Kabir and Mumbai police officer Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan), who partners up with motorcycle dealer Ali (Uday Chopra) to put an end to them. Esha Deol and Rimi Sen also appeared.

The movie franchise "Dhoom" was born because of its popularity.

The superhit sequel "Dhoom 2" was likewise directed by Gadhvi. Bachchan, Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Bipasha Basu were the film's cast members in 2006.

However, Vijay Krishna Acharya directed the third "Dhoom" movie. Bachchan, Chopra, Aamir Khan, and Katrina Kaif were all in the 2013 film.

"Kidnap" (2008), "Ajab Gazabb Love" (2012), and "Operation Parindey" (2020), Gadhvi's last film, are among his cinematic credits.

Gadhvi is survived by his wife and another daughter in addition to Sanjini.
