Lojja: A Series Shedding Light on Verbal Abuse Against Women

Hoichoi will begin streaming the new serial Lojja, which stars Priyanka Sarkar, on March 22. The film, which was written and directed by Aditi Roy and stars Samragnee Bandopadhyay, centers on Jaya, a 35-year-old married woman who has endured verbal abuse and neglect from her successful bank professional husband Partha. Partha is a good father and employee but also a verbally abusive husband. Jaya speaks for all the women who, because they were not taught to recognize and express it, have never spoken out against emotional and verbal abuse. This story raises important issues for society in addition to highlighting the difficulties a woman facing social pressure to conform and her courageous battle to prove her value again: Are all injuries apparent? Do all forms of abuse involve physical harm? Is it not possible to cause harm with "words"? Is it the abuser or the victim that has to feel ashamed? The narrative of Lojja tells the tale of a woman's struggle with tenacity, compromise, and verbal assault protest.

"It is imperative to highlight storylines that highlight verbal abuse of women in households, and I am working on a series that will do just that. Although it is a widespread problem that is frequently ignored or underappreciated, verbal abuse can have extremely negative psychological and emotional effects. By sharing these tales, we hope to prevent and intervene by increasing awareness of the pervasiveness of this kind of abuse and by promoting discussions and actions in that direction.
