TMC Booth Committee President Beaten to Death in South 24-Parganas
Mochakuli Mollah, a 41-year-old Trinamul Congress (TMC) booth committee president in South 24-Parganas, was allegedly beaten to death by goons with close ties to a rival faction within the ruling party on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred in Gosaba's Radhanagar village. Sources claim that Mollah was attacked by goons when he questioned a contractor about the substandard quality of a road construction project in Purba Radhanagar.
Following an altercation, Mollah was brutally assaulted with iron rods by a group of miscreants reportedly led by Bakibur Molla, a TMC activist. Rushed to Gosaba Hospital, Mollah succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by doctors.
In the last two weeks, there have been three murders of TMC leaders in the area.
Gosaba's TMC MLA, Subrata Mondal, stated, "I've been informed that he had a disagreement with Bakibur regarding the poor road work. I've instructed the police to take strict action."
