If the weather hadn't caused the Kolkata Knight Riders' final two league-stage games to be postponed, Varun Chakravarthy's total of wickets might have exceeded 18.

Without a doubt, though, this IPL has been spinner Chakravarthy's best successful to date, with his bowling crucial in helping the Knight Riders advance to the postseason following back-to-back losing seasons in 2022 and 2023.

After showcasing his true abilities, Chakravarthy is cautious to preserve the momentum and carry on with the outstanding job even after the IPL. The duration of the IPL is two months. Throughout the IPL, a lot of other things happen, and your muscle memory tends to change from time to time.

Therefore, Chakravarthy stated on Monday, "it's important to stick to your process and keep seeing your video-clippings, whatever you have done right, so that your muscle memory stays fresh."

While acknowledging that the 2024–25 domestic season will be extremely important to him, Chakravarthy is optimistic that his efforts on behalf of his state team, Tamil Nadu, will keep him in the running for a spot on Team India. In addition, he can use the red ball to make it count if a rank turner is available.

"The past two years have been fantastic for me since I play white ball for my state. My goal for this season is to do well for my team as well.

In red-ball cricket, there are a lot of technical problems because I bowl cross-seam, not because of my bowling. You must bowl on the seam in red ball. There are a few technological difficulties, but if it's a game-changer, I'll play it to the fullest," Chakravarthy said.

"As for a return to the Indian squad, I'm not thinking about it too much because that's been a constant question in my head for the past two years. This time, though, I've come to terms with it; if I understand it, I understand it, and if not, that's okay. However, I will persist in my hard work and persistent door-knocking.

Only six Twenty20 Internationals hath the 32-year-old played for India, and in those matches, he has claimed just two wickets at an economy rate of less than six an over (5.86). His chances of getting into India's T20Is against Zimbabwe and their July tour of Sri Lanka could improve if he continues to perform well in the playoffs.

Chakravarthy emphasized that having Sunil Narine as his spin teammate has been really beneficial. "It's preferable for a good student to watch, learn, and observe than to talk a lot. Sometimes when I'm unsure, I do speak with Narine, but seeing and observing him bowl is the best way for me to learn from him.

"My greatest learning comes from seeing him bowl right behind me in several of his films. Every ball he bowls, I learn something new from him.
