DMK Announces New Parliamentary Leadership

In a significant reshuffle, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has announced the appointment of Kanimozhi, the Member of Parliament (MP) from Thoothukudi Lok Sabha constituency, as the party’s new parliamentary leader. She replaces T R Baalu, the MP from Sriperumbudur, who will now lead the DMK in the Lok Sabha.

The announcement was made by M K Stalin, the DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, in a statement on Monday.

Dayanidhi Maran, representing the Chennai Central constituency, has been appointed as the party’s deputy leader in the Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, former Union Minister A Raja from the Nilgiris constituency will serve as the Whip in the Lok Sabha.

In the Rajya Sabha, Tiruchi N Siva has been appointed as the DMK leader. M Shanmugam, the DMK trade union LPF general secretary, will be the deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha. Senior advocate P Wilson will serve as the party’s Whip in the Rajya Sabha.

The statement also announced that S Jegathratchagan, the MP from Arakkonam, will be the DMK treasurer in both the Houses.

These changes mark a significant shift in the DMK’s parliamentary leadership and reflect the party’s commitment to bringing in new faces and ideas. The new leaders are expected to bring their unique perspectives and experiences to their roles, strengthening the party’s position in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
