Enforcement Directorate Arrests RJD General Secretary Subhash Yadav

Subhash Yadav, the general secretary of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday night following the purported seizure of Rs 2.3 crore in cash and many papers pertaining to the ownership of real estate.

The RJD criticized the action, claiming it was a ploy to intimidate the opposition before the Lok Sabha elections.

On Sunday, Subhash appeared before a judicial magistrate and was sent to jail. On Monday, he might appear before the ED court, which is also known as the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court.

The ED action was the result of a 14-hour raid on six residential and official locations associated with Subhash. Subhash is believed to be one of the party's "financiers" and is close to RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his family.

The operations were carried out in response to a money-laundering case that was filed against Subhash after the Bihar police filed false reports regarding illicit sand mining.

In 2019, he ran for the Lok Sabha from Chatra, Jharkhand, on the party's ticket.

The Bihar police filed about 20 First Information Reports (FIRs) against Broadsons Commodities Pvt. Ltd. (BCPL) and its directors for allegedly engaging in illicit sand mining within the state. These FIRs form the basis of the money laundering investigation. An ED insider told The Telegraph that the sand was disposed of without using the e-challans that were required to sell it.

In connection with the case, the agency has detained directors of Broadsons Mithilesh Kumar Singh, Baban Singh, and Surendra Kumar Jindal as well as MLC Radha Charan Sah and his son Kanhaiya Prasad. They're under court custody right now. In November 2023, a chargesheet was submitted against them.

According to agency officials, a conspiracy that made investments in Broadsons Commodities and made profits totaling Rs 161 crore allegedly controlled the unlawful sand trade.

The RJD leaders claimed that Subhash was detained because Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP were concerned about Mahagathbandhan's growing influence, particularly in light of the organization's triumphant March 3 rally in Patna.

The opposition politicians are being hounded because Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have realized that Bihar was backing our leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. It was during a rally in Patna that Shah declared people would be hanged upside down and straightened. State residents will respond appropriately to them and their strategies, according to RJD spokesman Shakti Yadav.
