The 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards will take place in Beverly Hills, California on January 7 and will be hosted by comedian-actor Jo Koy, the organization's official X (previously Twitter) account revealed on Thursday.

The 81st Annual #GoldenGlobes will be hosted by @Jokoy, the event's organizers announced with great pleasure.

On Thursday, Jo Koy informed his followers of the news via a video post on Instagram. It gives me great pleasure to declare that I will be hosting the 2024 Golden Globes. The caption for his post said, "Don't forget to tune in on Sunday, January 7 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT - airing live on @cbstv and streaming on @paramountplus."

Koy's fans and fellow comedians showered the post's comment section with congratulations. Comedian Kevin Herrera wrote, "It'll be the first and last Golden Globes I ever watch."

The stand-up shows Jo Koy has performed on Comedy Central and the 2022 Netflix special Jo Koy: Live from the Los Angeles Forum have made him most famous.

The 81st installment of the yearly awards show will be available to stream live on CBS TV and Paramount Plus at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT. The event will debut on Lionsgate Play in India at 5.30 am IST.

With nine nominations, Greta Gerwig's Barbie has led the field this year. Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, comes in second with eight nominations.
